Special Containment Procedures: Provisional Site-5729 was created around SCP-5729 due to the failure of relocation attempts. Due to the chance of drastic temperature changes, a 'safe line' has been created around SCP-5729 to mark where the temperature change ends. Should the temperature drop or rise suddenly, all personnel inside of the 'safe line' are to immediately return outside of the 'safe line' and undergo appropriate medical procedures.

Description: SCP-5729 is an instance of Quercus Alba¹ located in the ruins of ███ ████████ Facility For Training of the ███████ ███, located in Northwestern ███████. SCP-5729 is physically non-anomalous and is identical to any other member of its species. SCP-5729 dimensions has been measured at 30 meters tall and ██ feet wide as of 02/28/████.

SCP-5729's observed anomalous properties include:

• Screaming, crying, and general sounds of pain consistent with young human women. The source of the vocalizations has yet to be determined.
• Drastic temperature changes ranging from -55 to upwards of 70 degrees Celsius. These changes are attributed to SCP-5729-1.
• Any damage done to SCP-5729 will be inflicted on the person who is attacking it. Testing different methods of harming SCP-5729 are outlined in Test Log 5729-Alpha
• If asked nicely, SCP-5729 is able to play any song from 19██ up to present day.

Under calm and tranquil circumstances, manifestations of SCP-5729-1 can be observed. SCP-5729-1 is a non-physical entity of unknown origin. The entity can be accurately defined as a female child of around 13 years of age. Projected measurements put SCP-5729-1's theoretical physical attributes well-below the average of it's age group. SCP-5729-1 is most commonly observed with black, shoulder length hair, wearing sweatpants and a light sweater. Upon closer inspection, SCP-5729-1 exhibits prominent symptoms of hypothermia and frostbite. It often appears with varying amounts of ice and blood frozen to its clothing, hair and face. SCP-5729-1 has been observed to disappear from view occasionally, although thermal imaging shows SCP-5729-1 as still active and able to communicate. It's voice can be described as soft and child-like.

SCP-5729-2 is observed more frequently than SCP-5729-1, see Interview Log 5729-(number). SCP-5729-1 is a non-physical entity of unknown origin. The entity can be accurately described as a young female adult of around 19 years of age. Projected measurements put SCP-5729-2's theoretical physical attributes on par with the average of it's age group. SCP-5729-2 is most commonly observed with brown, close-cropped hair, wearing jeans and a shirt with the band name, '██ ███████ ███████', along with a plaid button up sweater and a different colour beanie each time it is observed. Upon closer inspection, SCP-5729-2 exhibits 8 gunshot wounds to the abdomen, 2 gunshot wounds to the left thigh and 1 gunshot wound to the neck. Superficial wounds on the face and arms of SCP-5729-2 can also be seen. SCP-5729-2 does not seem to be affected by these wounds, at least not anymore. It's voice can be described as sardonic and bold.

SCP-5729-3 has been only observed twice, each time with varying degrees of success. SCP-5729-3 is a non-physical entity of unknown origin. The entity can be accurately described as a rough pillar of flowing black dust. It has been observed to alter its dimensions from 1.9 meters in height to █.█ meters. SCP-5729-3 has been observed to have no humanoid features, although SCP-5729-2 insists that it does have a human-like form (See Interview Log 5729-[number]). It's can be described as voice is raspy and malicious.

SCP-5729-1, SCP-5729-2, and SCP-5729-3 have all certain traits in common with each other:

• Willing to be interviewed most of the time they can be observed.

• Are contained to a 10 meter radius of SCP-5729's trunk. They will dissipate if the 10 meter boundary is crossed.

• Show no signs of aging.

• Do not touch the ground. Instead, they float a few centimetres off the ground. They cannot move without physically walking, flying is out of the question. When asked to sit in a provided chair, SCP-5729-1 sat down a few centimetres above the chair's seat.

• Have been observed to dissipate into grey mist when touched by anything, reappearing within a few minutes. When dissipating, SCP-5729-1 and -2 retain the pose they were in at the time of contact. Test Log 5729-Beta outlines attempts to dissipate SCP-5729-2. SCP-5729-2 has been quoted to describe this as "really annoying".

Method: D-(number) was instructed to attempt to chop down SCP-5729 with a standard fire axe.

Result: D-(number) swung the axe at the base of SCP-5729. The axe came to a complete stop just before coming in contact with the bark of SCP-5729. A blow similar to what would have been the axe swing struck D-(number) in the side below the rib-cage. D-(number) expired 13 minutes after the blow was received.

<03/17/██, 0900>

Method: D-(number) was instructed to attempt to cut SCP-5729 with a gas-powered chainsaw.

Result: D-(number) started the chainsaw and moved to cut the trunk of SCP-5729. Just before coming in contact with the bark, D-(number) sustained a deep laceration above the pelvis. D-(number) dropped the chainsaw before any more damage could be done. The wound pattern was identical to being cut with a chainsaw. D-(number) was given emergency first aid and is expected to make a full recovery.

<03/18/██, 1300>

Method: D-(number) was instructed to shoot SCP-5729 with a Heckler & Koch USP9 chambered with seven .45 ACP rounds.

Result: D-(number) attempted to [DATA EXPUNGED]. Agent E███ sustained two gunshot wounds to the chest, partially mitigated by a Kevlar vest. D-(number) was terminated by Agent ███████. Agent E███ was given emergency first aid and is expected to make a full recovery.

<03/22/██, 1000>

Method: D-number was instucted to shoot SCP-5729 with a Heckler & Koch USP9 chambered with one .45 ACP round.

Result: D-(number) shot SCP-5729 with the gun. Small amounts of wood debris were observed flying off of SCP-5729. D-(number) sustained a gunshot wound to the back of the right knee roughly 4 seconds after shooting SCP-5729. Upon further medical inspection, no physical bullet could be found. Upon further inspection of SCP-5729, the chip in the bark was still visible. ██ days after this test the chip was gone.

<03/22/██, 1830>

Method: D-(number) was instructed to empty a can of gasoline onto SCP-5729, and proceed to light it with a match.

Note: SCP-5729-2 was present during this test, watching from a low hanging branch. SCP-5729-2 appeared to be bored.

Result: D-(number) emptied the can of gasoline onto SCP-5729 and lit a match, throwing it onto the doused area of SCP-5729. The gasoline applied to the bark of SCP-5729 did not light, although a small grass fire was started and promptly extinguished.

<03/23/██, 0700>

Method: A modified ███████-2R Flamethrower was set up 6 meters away from SCP-5729. D-(number) was instructed to activate the flamethrower with a remote from a safe distance.

Result: The flamethrower was activated for 5 seconds. SCP-5729 was exposed to temperatures upwards of ███ degrees Celsius. No effect on SCP-5729 could be observed, although most of the plant life around SCP-5729 had been obliterated.

Note: SCP-5729's vocalizations increased in volume for ██ days after this test, returning to normal once signs of new life could be found in the surrounding dirt.

<05/12/██, 1700>

Method: A standard fire axe was attached to an articulating robotic arm. Dr. C█████ volunteered to control it via remote control.

Note: Dr. C█████ was given an operating crash course by Engineer F███████.

Result: The axe was swung at SCP-5729 at ██.9 m/s. As seen with a previous test, the axe stopped its motion before hitting the bark. The arm was instantly severed half-way between the axe and the rotation point. Dr. C█████ was unharmed.

Response: The 1969 version of 'Here Comes The Sun' could be heard anywhere within 100 meters of SCP-5729 with audio quality similar to that of a VHS player. Volumes never exceeded 70 dB.

Request: Dr. Greene asked SCP-5729 to sing 'Stayin' Alive' by The Bee Gee's.
Response: The 1977 version of 'Stayin' Alive' could be heard within 100 meters of SCP-5729 with audio quality similar to that of a VHS player. Volume levels normal.

Request: Engineer Fullham requested SCP-5729 to sing, 'In The Mood' by Glen Miller.
Response: The 1934 version of 'In The Mood' could be heard withing 37 meters of SCP-5729 with audio quality similar to that of a vinyl record. Volume levels normal.
Note: 'In The Mood' is entirely instrumental with no vocals.

Request: Dr. Greene yelled at SCP-5729 to play 'Don't Stop Me Now' by Queen.
Response: SCP-5729 screamed at volumes upwards of 120 db for 23 seconds, causing minor hearing damage to those within 30 meters of SCP-5729.

<06/01/██, 1030>
Request: Dr. Greene apologized to SCP-5729 about yelling, and ask if it could sing 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow.
Response: The 1960 version of 'Over The Rainbow' sung by Judy Garland could be heard within 50 meters of SCP-5729 with audio quality similar to that of a broken vinyl. Many scratches could be heard throughout the song and at three minutes and 2 second, the song skipped back to the beginning.
Note: When asked to stop singing by Dr. Greene, an sound similar to the slow down of a VHS tape could be heard.

Attempted Action: Dr. C████ attempted to toss a softball to SCP-5729-2.
Result: Upon contact with the softball, SCP-5729-2 dissipated and returned roughly 2 minutes later. The softball's trajectory was unchanged.

Attempted Action: SCP-5729-2 was asked to pick up a plastic cup placed on a table.
Result: SCP-5729-2 was able to hold onto the cup and lift it slightly before dissipating. SCP-5729-2 reappeared roughly 5 minutes later.

<05/20/██, 1300>
Note: The testing team were on break for lunch. SCP-5729-2 was sitting against SCP-5729 when a honeybee came into contact with SCP-5729-2's face.
Result: SCP-5729-2's form wavered slightly, partially losing volume. Instead of a full visual manifestation, only a rough outline of SCP-5729-2 could be observed. Within 10 minutes, SCP-5729-2 was back to 'normal'.

Attempted Action: Agent Y████ was asked to shoot SCP-5729-2.
Result: SCP-5729-2 screamed and turned away, raising its arms to block the bullet. Agent Y████ fired his gun, striking SCP-5729-2 in the chest. SCP-5729-2 dissipated in this pose. The bullet's trajectory was not changed and struck the ground behind SCP-5729-2. SCP-5729-2 reappeared within ██ minutes, visibly shaken. Request to cease testing for the day granted.

Dr. C█████: (Opens and writes in notebook) Could you elaborate on SCP-5729's history?

SCP-5729-2: I don't know… Lockney was a friend of mine, real close friend. She planted the tree and looked after it like it was her child. She was still alive when I died. She's probably bound to the tree in someway.

Dr. C█████: Right. And in what sense would you use the word 'bound'?

SCP-5729-2: I don't know. Like part of her soul is in the tree. [That's probably] why its screaming.

Dr. C█████: I see. Would you consider this 'Lockney' alive or dead?

SCP-5729-2: (Agitated) How the [Expletive Removed] would I know? I've been dead for God knows how many years.

Dr. C█████: I need an answer, please.

SCP-5729-2 Fine. I assume she's dead now.

Dr. C█████: Thank you.

SCP-5729-2 dissipated from the chair.

Dr. Greene: Right. Well, my name is J██████ Greene. I'm the Senior Researcher here at Site-5729. Do you have a name?

SCP-5729-2: What happened to that C█████ guy? Did he get fired or something?

Dr. Greene: Something like that. Can't really tell you.

SCP-5729-2: Fair enough. Name's Mark, by the way.

SCP-5729-2 extends their hand to Dr. Greene for a handshake. Dr. Greene makes contact with SCP-5729-2 and SCP-5729-2 promptly dissipates with a smile on their face. Dr. Greene is startled and mutters a surprised curse. Laughter from the testing team can be heard in the background.

Dr. Greene: (To testing team) Stop laughing! (Under her breath) I knew I should have read those test logs.

SCP-5729-2 reappears roughly 3 minutes later in the same position, laughing.

SCP-5729-2: So you're the new boss around here, huh. Never liked that other guy to begin with. Aug told me he was scary the first time you guys showed up. Who are you people anyway?

Dr. Greene writes in the file for a few seconds.

Dr. Greene: 'We' are a research team of the SCP Foundation. The Foundation is responsible for the research of anomalous entities and items, locating them and securing them to keep the general public safe.

SCP-5729-2: (Hesitantly) Huh. I assume you think we are anomo-whatsit?

Dr. Greene: Correct. Uh, you referred to a 'we' a few moments ago. Who else are you talking about?

SCP-5729-2: Oh. I guess that's Aug. August, I mean. She's with me here.

Dr. Greene: August. Right. Is she here now?

SCP-5729-2: (Calling into the boughs of SCP-5729) Aug! You wanna come say hi to the new lady?

A short pause. SCP-5729-1 appears behind SCP-5729-2, looking warily over SCP-5729-2's shoulder.

SCP-5729-2: Hey, it's ok. J███████'s here to help us.

Dr. Greene: Hello August. My name is J███████ Greene. I'm the Senior Researcher here at Site-5729.

SCP-5729-1 is silent. The average temperature around SCP-5729 drops to 20 degrees Celsius.

SCP-5729-2: Hey, Aug it's fine. J███████'s not like the other guy. She wants to help out.

SCP-5729-1 reluctantly climbs into SCP-5729-2's lap. The average temperature around SCP-5729 dips to 18 degrees before returning to normal.

SCP-5729-1: (Softly) Hi.

Dr. Greene: Hi August. I want to let you know that I am not here to hurt you, okay? Dr. C█████ had some… aggressive, testing methods but from here on out, I promise we won't do anything you don't want us to.

Mark asked questions about us as an organization and I gave her most of the declassified info that I could. Footage from a recovered camera shows a light excavator digging a trench around SCP-5729 in an attempt to dig it up for transportation.

Unknown Voice: (Off-screen) Hold it there! I think we got some roots.

Digger Operator (Muffled) What does it matter, it'll regrow them.
Unknown Voice has been identified as Engineer Dresden as he walks into frame, closer to the Digger Operator.

Engineer Dresden: Dude, I don't think this is a good idea. The Doc said the tree might be alive or some shit.

Digger Operator: Yeah. Its a tree. Trees are alive. [Unintelligible]. Stand clear.

Engineer Dresden retreats off screen. Digger Operator resumes digging.

1 minute passes after the conversation.

Two minutes and 17 seconds after the conversation, SCP-5729 releases a scream measuring over 1██ dB, with temperature within 10 meters of SCP-5729 dropping to an unprecedented -██ degrees Celsius. In accordance with special containment procedures, all personnel were evacuated to the 'safe-line', and treated for exposure symptoms. The Digger Operator, later discovered to be H█████ Maxwell, was found dead in the excavator with the doors frozen shut. Maxwell's cause of death was determined to be hypoxia due to shock; He likely died within seconds of the temperature change.
